Animal Touch Tellington Touch South Africa

Dogs                                                                            A Gentle & Holistic Approach to Behavioral & Health Problems in Animals

Many dogs today have behavioural problems and we are seeing much more aggression now than ever before. While the causes are complex, there is no doubt that Tellington Touch can help the dog that is fearful and unconfident and has a tendency to fear bite people or other dogs. By applying the philosophy and techniques that TTouch offers, many dog owners have found that they are able to make a difference with a whole range of canine problems such as:

  • Timidity and nervousness
  • Hyperactivity
  • Leash pulling and jumping up
  • Fear of loud noises
  • Excessive barking and chewing
  • Car sickness
  • Fear biting and aggression
  • Focus and confidence in the show ring
  • Aging problems, arthritis and hip dysplasia

Because TTouch is a system based on respectful cooperation as opposed to domination and punishment, we find that animals truly learn to change behaviour at a very deep level with no fear of punishment.

Body Work

The body work consists of circular touches, lifts and strokes. By applying the one and a quarter circles all over the dogs body as well as doing ear, mouth and tail work one can stimulate the function and vitality of the cells, activate unused neural pathways to the brain, and change behaviour.

Research has shown that the circular movements activate alpha, beta, theta and delta brain wave patterns as well as releasing stress-reducing hormones.

Further positive effects of the TTouches are that your understanding of your dog is enhanced; he gains trust in you, as well as confidence in himself.

Groundwork excercises

Dogs are also put through a series of groundwork exercises which are designed to help improve focus, coordination, self control and self confidence.

The dog in the picture above lives in a shelter and has become extremely fearful of people but after just two sessions of Tellington Touch he allowed me to stroke and touch him. We really need a very special person to adopt Bruno and carry on the work in his new home.
